LIABILITY IN CONSTRUCTION ACCIDENTS AND LADDER FALLS
Building owners have a responsibility to remain compliant with OSHA safety guidelines and may face ultimate responsibility for gravity related accidents at construction sites – including falls from ladders and scaffolds. There are a number of safety steps that building owners need to make sure are followed in order to prevent ladder falls. For example, ladders should be properly braced at the bottom and secured at the top to make sure that construction workers aren’t likely to fall off. If a building owner is negligent in failing to protect workers, they may be liable under New York’s Labor Law section 240(1).
Our staff at Lipsig Lawyers were deeply saddened to learn about the tragic construction accident that killed Antonio Desouza. We extend our thoughts and prayers to the victim’s family as they are going through such an incredibly difficult time. As construction accident attorneys and consumer safety advocates, we understand how dangerous work sites can be and the immense need for building owners to provide a safe environment for workers.
