UPDATE: Ralph Nimmons Killed In Brooklyn Stop and Shop While Being Restrained By Store Employee; Fatal Accident Remains Under Investigation

Ralph Nimmons Died In Stop and Shop After Being Restrained For Allegedly Shoplifting

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK (April 16, 2018) – A man tragically died after he was restrained by an employee of a stop and shop in Brooklyn.

Brooklyn police have been able to identify the man that died in the stop and shop as Ralph Nimmons.

The victim said that he couldn’t breathe and had a heart problem. Witnesses are saying that by the time police arrived at the Stop and Shop Ralph Nimmons was on the floor and unresponsive.

An investigation into the accident remains ongoing at this time.

More often than not police officers are the ones who use excessive force because they regularly interact with potential suspects. Unfortunately, citizens who do not have formal training in security often take matters into their own hands.  When a person is the victim of excessive force which leads to injury or death they may be able to file a claim against the responsible party.

Our staff at Lipsig Lawyers were deeply saddened to learn about the tragic death of Ralph Nimmons at the Stop and Shop. We extend our thoughts and prayers to the family of the victim as they continue to go through such an incredibly difficult time. There needs to be a thorough investigation into what happened. We encourage any witnesses to come forward and speak with investigators.  What occurred at this Stop and Shop is completely unacceptable. This should never have happened.
