Ralph Nimmons Died In Stop and Shop After Being Restrained For Allegedly Shoplifting

LIABILITY IN EXCESSIVE FORCE LAWSUITS

More often than not police officers are the ones who use excessive force because they regularly interact with potential suspects. Unfortunately, citizens who do not have formal training in security often take matters into their own hands.  When a person is the victim of excessive force which leads to injury or death they may be able to file a claim against the responsible party.

Our staff at Lipsig Lawyers were deeply saddened to learn about the tragic death of Ralph Nimmons at the Stop and Shop. We extend our thoughts and prayers to the family of the victim as they continue to go through such an incredibly difficult time. There needs to be a thorough investigation into what happened. We encourage any witnesses to come forward and speak with investigators.  What occurred at this Stop and Shop is completely unacceptable. This should never have happened.
