CUBA, NEW YORK (April 8, 2018) – A 41-year-old truck driver was killed in an accident on the 96 highway when his vehicle was hit by another big rig around 5:30 a.m.

Police in Cuba New York have been able to identify the man that died in the tractor trailer crash as Kyle Willis.

Firefighters and paramedics rushed to the scene of the collision in order to treat Kyle Willis for his injuries. He was rushed to the Olean General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

It remains unclear what may have caused the victim’s truck to become disabled.

LIABILITY IN TRUCK ACCIDENTS

When a truck driver is injured or killed in an accident, they or their family will normally be able to seek worker’s compensation. In addition to worker’s compensation a truck driver may also be able to file a third party liability claim against any other companies that may be responsible for the accident. For example, if a truck driver is killed due to the negligence of another truck driver that may give rise to a third party liability claim. There should never be any reason why a truck hits a disabled vehicle. Truck drivers are trained to see and avoid obstacles in the road. If a truck driver is unable to stop in time to avoid an accident, that is usually evidence that they were distracted or driving too fast.
