LIABILITY IN FOOTBALL PRACTICE ACCIDENTS
Schools have a responsibility to protect the well-being of the students in their care. When they fail to take reasonable measures to ensure the safety of their students, they may be liable in the event of an accident. Having the proper safety procedures in place is especially important in a contact sport like football. There are a number of ways that a school may be negligent during football practice. School officials may be negligent if they are engaged in (1) inadequate supervision, (2) using unsafe equipment, (3) having improperly trained employees, (4) having insufficient on-site emergency medical care or for numerous other reasons. Accidents during football games are highly foreseeable, which makes it crucial for the proper medical care to be readily available.
Our staff at Lipsig Lawyers were deeply saddened to learn about the tragic football practice accident that killed Joshua Mileto. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family as they continue to grieve such an incredible loss. This could have been anyone’s child. There needs to be steps put in place to make sure that something this horrific never happens again. We encourage everyone to donate to the GO FUND ME PAGE set up for the family.
