PREMISES LIABILITY CLAIMS IN EXPLOSION ACCIDENTS
Business owners and building owners have a responsibility to keep their buildings in good repair and keep guests safe from foreseeable sources of harm. Explosions always involve two critical elements – a combustion source and an ignition source. Because our buildings are often powered by natural gas, this is a common combustion source involved in many accidents. Likewise, stove tops, pilot lights and faulty wiring may cause an ignition if they come into contact with gas. Improperly sealed wires can give off just enough heat to ignite gases that then lead to an explosion. When there is an explosion inside of a building, there are numerous potential sources of liability. Building owners and general contractors may be liable for faulty wiring. The gas company may be liable for failing to properly seal off gas valves.Any person that is injured in an accident involving an explosion may be able to file a claim for damages.
