Woman Hit By A Car While Crossing Street On Castleton Avenue In Staten Island; Pedestrian Remains Critically Injured After Accident With Van

STATEN ISLAND, NEW YORK (January 9, 2018) – A 36-year-old woman was seriously injured in a car accident after being hit by a Ford Econoline van at the intersection of Clove Road and Castleton Avenue In West Brighton.

Staten Island police are saying that the pedestrian was crossing  Castleton Avenue at the time that she was struck by the Van going southbound.

Firefighters and paramedics rushed to the scene of the accident in order to treat the female pedestrian for her injuries.

The driver of the Ford Econoline van remained at the scene of the collision and cooperated with police.

She was listed in critical condition and taken to the Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton in order to receive treatment.

A number of people on social media are saying the the stretch of road where the accident took place is dangerous with drivers that regularly speed.


Generally speaking, driver’s have a responsibility to keep a watchful eye out for pedestrians and drive in a reasonably safe manner. If the negligent driver involved in an accident is working for a company, the company that the driver works for may be held vicariously liable.
