CONKLIN: Michael Harding Killed In Truck Accident After Being Run Over At Maines Food and Paper Distribution Center

Michael Harding Dead After Fatal Accident Involving Tandem Tractor Trailer Rig at  Maines Food and Paper Distribution Center

CONKLIN, NEW YORK (April 11, 2018) – A 74-year-old man was tragically killed in a workplace accident after he was run over by a tandem tractor trailer truck at the Maines Food and Paper Distribution Center.

Conklin police have been able to identify the man that died as Michael Harding. The victim was found in the loading dock of the facility.

Michael Harding was in between his tractor trailer and a tandem rig that was being parked in the yard. The victim was apparently hit by a truck after falling from one of the vehicles.

It was raining at the time of the fatal truck accident, but it remains unclear if that was a factor. An investigation at the  Maines Food and Paper Distribution Center remains ongoing at this time.

WORKER’S COMPENSATION AND THIRD PARTY LIABILITY

When a worker is injured or killed in New York they or their family will typically be able to file a claim for worker’s compensation. In addition to worker’s compensation, the victim of an accident may be able to file a third party liability claim against any other entities responsible for the accident separate from their employer. Loading docs often have workers from numerous companies that come to pick up their shipments. It’s usually beneficial to make sure that these types of accidents are investigated thoroughly for potential third party liability.
