BROOKLYN: Construction Worker Injured In Accident After Falling From Roof of Trinity Grace Church on Ainslie Street

Fatal Construction Accident Leaves One Worker Critically Injured After He Fell Onto Sidewalk From Trinity Grace Church In Williamsburg

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK (April 9, 2018) – A construction worker that fell from the roof of the Trinity Grace Church sustained serious injuries when he fell two stories from the roof of the building.

The worker injured in the construction accident appears to have fallen on top of a shed on the sidewalk. The victim was apparently doing brick work for the building just before the fall.

Firefighters and paramedics rushed to the scene of the accident in order to treat the victim for his injuries. A neighbor that lives across from the building said that he has been concerned about the condition that the building is in.

OSHA is conducting an investigation and 4M construction has not issued any statements so far.

LIABILITY IN WORKPLACE ACCIDENTS

There are laws in place designed to protect workers rights if they are injured while working. In particular, New York Labor Law 240(1) holds building owners and general contractors ultimately liable if a worker falls off of a scaffold. Moreover, when a worker is working six feet or higher off a the ground, they would normally be required to have a safety equipment designed to protect against falls. Any worker that is injured on the job may be able to file a claim for damages.

Our staff at Lipsig Lawyers were deeply concerned to read about the horrific construction accident at Trinity Grace Church. We extend our thoughts and prayers to the victim as he continues to recover. We sincerely hope that steps are taken to help protect the safety of workers as they continue to repair this church.
