LIABILITY IN SCHOOL BUS ACCIDENTS
School bus drivers have a responsibility to drive in a reasonably safe manner and take action to prevent foreseeable sources of harm. When a school bus driver causes an accident through their own negligence while working within the scope of their employment, their employer may be liable. One of the unique challenges of school buses is how large and heavy they can be. It normally takes a greater distance to stop a school bus or maneuver it around. They also tend to have larger blind spots than sedans. This puts smaller vehicles at risk to being side-swiped.
