Krystal Alejandro Told By Brooklyn School Officials Her Son Armani Alejandro Was Injured In A Fall At The Playground on the Jungle Gym; School Accident Under Investigation
BROOKLYN, NEW YORK (January 8, 2018) – A 6-year-old boy sustained two broken arms after school officials failed to supervise him just before a school playground accident on the jungle gym.
Brooklyn officials have been able to identify the boy that was injured from the fall at the school jungle gym as Armani Alejandro and his mother as Krystal Alejandro.
Krystal Alejandro picked up Armani Alejandro from the Brooklyn school’s after hours program.
Armani Alejandro complained that his arms hurt. Krystal Alejandro took him to the hospital where it was determined that both of his wrists were fractured.
It appears that the young boy was not being monitored at the time he fell from the school’s jungle gym.
The young boy remains in great pain from the accident and from being untreated by school officials after it took place.
LIABILITY IN SCHOOL PLAYGROUND ACCIDENTS
Generally speaking, schools have a responsibility to keep the children entrusted to their care reasonably safe. Steps should be taken to make sure the school itself is a safe environment. Children also need to be properly supervised to make sure that they aren’t involved in any accidents. If a school official fails to properly monitor the children in their care, the school district may be held vicariously liable. The parent of any child that is injured may be able to file a claim for damages including the cost of medical care.
